You're Invited

(Posted Dec 1 - For today's cookie swap, go here. Thanks)

Living out here in small town America gives me little opportunity to entertain; therefore, I am holding my very own Christmas Cookie Swap - blogger style of course.

It is that time of year for cooking and baking, and baking and cooking...and cookies just happen to be my weakness. I am always in search of new cookie recipes - you know, the ones that will ultimately add weight on to one's thighs.

So on Monday, December 1st (that's 2 weeks from today, people) post your favorite cookie recipe on your blog, link back to "Bloggin' It From The 'Burbs" either with your own link in your post or you can grab one of the following widgets. Then come back to my page, add a comment and at that point I will have a "Mr. Linky" so that a link to your post will show up on my blog.

And who can hold a party without having some kind of door prize? Certainly not me! So, depending on how many of you decide to join in, I will either draw a name out of a hat (so very official, don't you think?) or get one of those random-number-picker-thingies (don't you just love my non-technical terminology?) and one of you will win this very lovely Southern Living Incredible Cookies cookbook, filled with page after page of mouth-watering cookie recipes and photos. It is the ultimate Cookie Swap. Hope you can join us.

If you'd like, feel free to grab one of the widgets now to post on your blog as not only a reminder but also as an invitation to your readers as well. The more cookie recipes the better!!
Leave me a comment and let me know if you plan on joining in : )

That's a great idea! I love Christmas cookies and I also love Southern Living cookbooks. I've hosted a Cookie exchange at my house every year during the first weekend in December the last few years, so now I have a huge collection of great cookie recipes. I'll have to figure out which one (or ones) to post.

Have a great week!

I'M IN!!!! I'm not much of a cook, but I love, love, love to bake. Especially cookies. I bake tons of cookies during Christmas. I may even have to unlock my blog for that day. I can't wait to get a ton of recipes. I'll get the widget later today. At the moment I'm in the midst of laundry, housecleaning, trying to get a grumpy baby to nap, a 3 year old feeding a Baby Alive (making a big mess) and the list goes on. (Of course, checking blogs doesn't really help matters.....)

Great idea, Melinda!

Awww Melinda that is such a great idea! I think that since I don't cook I won't be joining in...I want the Cookbook to go to someone who would use it regularly!!! You ladies all have fun with it!!! Maybe I should make my New Years Resolution to start cooking more...hmmmm...

Wait, tell me how you did the widget thing? With the box to copy the code for other people??? I've been trying to figure out how to do that!!

I am so glad all you girls will be joining in - hopefully more will as well.

Stacey - I will try and do a post on the widget thingy so that everyone can figure it out. It took me searching the net for days before I finally compiled enough information to do it - in the end it was sooooo simple! If I forget, remind me : )

I'm in! I have to read your insructions on a widget first. I always wondered how to do that...

Okay, it was easy peasy to add the widget but when i clicked on it, it said the page on your blog didn't exist. Did I do something wrong?!?!

Melinda said...

Hmmm...I will check on it. I am sure it is probably me and not you though : (

Glad you're in!!

Amy, I am guessing you grabbed the widget from the sidebar. For some reason it is not working. I will try and fix it but for now, grab the one from the post. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for "trying" to post it on your blog...my bad : )

Melinda said...

Okay, it is fixed now. However, Amy, you will have to try and post it again. The previous code was incorrect. Again, my apologies.
