Yesterday we went to the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts. Weather permitting, we like to go every year. This year, for the first time in a few years the weather was exceptional: mid 80’s and no wind (for those of you who don’t live in Oklahoma – “no wind” happens very seldom). The art is always fun to look at but what really draws me is the food (which of course does not lend a hand in my losing weight; but man, is it goooood – if you happen to go I would highly recommend the Strawberries Newport AND the Fried Peaches). Plus the fact that the Arts Council really makes the whole event very kid friendly, makes it a fun family outing; which is why we take Nana and Papa with us every year. They have tents set up for the kids to paint pottery and do other crafts. They have a large grassy area where they always set up PVC pipes in one shape or another (this year it was a dragon) and then they have scraps of fabric that the kids get to tie onto and between the pipes. The boys really love this part. They even have a tent where kids venture in by themselves (no adults allowed – I guess that’s so you don’t sway your child’s decision in which piece of art to choose) and pick out and buy their very own masterpiece to take home. Jack of course chose a piece of art from the regular vendors which cost more than anything that goes into a child’s room should. But Josh said, “That’s what he wanted” and Josh never tells that kid no; so here we are with a piece of art signed by the artist that will now hang on a four-year-old’s wall. Geesh!!

I used to work in that very parking lot. Just across from the bus station.
Lots of excitement around there on a daily basis!
The Strawberries Newport were the BEST!
Strawberries Newport. I don't know what that is, but I LOVE the sound of it : ). I am glad you had some : ). You deserve a treat since you are the BEST mother on the planet Melinda! Oh, yes you are : ).
Jack just happened to get his fantastic taste from his mother!!! :) So you should know he'd go for the expensive stuff!!! That is an awesome piece though, for sure! I was just talking to mom and dad about how I HATE that I won't get to take Chase... I seriously am bummed!!! :( But that's okay..Your pics are fab, so I just will stare at them long enough to feel like I went lol.
what a brilliant day out, i loved days like this when the kids were smaller...they think they are too old for this kinda stuff now so i have to kidnap my godchildren and neices and nephews to go along!
Sounds like so much fun! And i love the pictures :-)
