Ears to zoo

I’ve been meaning to post about Friday for a few days now, but you know how those things go…

Beau had tubes put in his ears on Friday and the procedure went really well. The doctor and the nurse were both in awe, all things considered, of what a good kid he was. They said Beau’s ears were filled with thick fluid and couldn’t believe he slept through the nights and hardly ever cried. It took them a little longer than normal to get all the gunk out but thought that the tubes would make him a completely different child. And so far, they are right: he laughs a lot more, refuses to take naps and has been a lot more clingy…at times I wonder if they would go ahead and reverse the procedure ;  )

I really thought that after all was said and done, Beau would be cranky and want a nap; but instead, he ate a double cheeseburger, a couple of chicken-nuggets, and a cookie (yes, the boy can put away the food) and off to the zoo we went.May 15-16 09 ears, zoo, flip center 003 The boys had a great time! May 15-16 09 ears, zoo, flip center 024 Beau loved the birds and waved and said “bye-bye” whenever we left an animal exhibit. May 15-16 09 ears, zoo, flip center 007 Jack’s favorite animals were a little mouse, which I now think he wants for our house (not going to happen…EVER) and the fish (which we do have and it doesn’t get taken care of).May 15-16 09 ears, zoo, flip center 028  And they both really enjoyed the Dinosaur exhibit.May 15-16 09 ears, zoo, flip center 020  Me however, I’m not a huge fan of the zoo. I don’t know why, I’m just not. But when this little guy popped his head up, initially scaring me half-to-death, and then went back to sleep, my heart melted.May 15-16 09 ears, zoo, flip center 005

So gald everything went good with Beau! Great shots of the Zoo. I'm not a big fan either. Someting about wild animals being caged up just seems so mean to me!

I am so glad that he did so well with the procedure! Kaish just loves the zoo. I do not love the zoo at all. I try to avoid it at all costs.

I hope he takes a nap again for you soons. Naps are so needed, aren't they?

So glad the procedure went well.

I love the last picture, it does melt your heart. I am not a fan of walking thru the zoo either, but I love the animals.

**PS-responding to your comment on my blog. That is why I love Marilyn. She had a real womens body and still looked great. I think we need more models like this instead of the stick figures so that young girls don't get such a distorted view of what normal looks like :)**

My daughter also went through the tubes in the ear procedure. Before that she was suffering from 90% hearing loss in one ear. The results were instant. When we got out of the hospital a few hours later, we stopped for breakfast and she ate like she had not eaten in years!

I am glad your son is doing well! Great pics from the zoo!

SO glad the tube thing went well. I bet Beau feels so much better. Looks like they both really liked the zoo.

My heart would have melted at that last one too. So sweet!

I hope that despite the totally-different-child thing, Beau is feeling much better without the gunky liquid in his ears. Ugh. I don't even want to think about how that must have felt before.
