The end of a great summer

We may not have gone on vacation this summer but we had a great time discovering things close to home.

A while back, one of my friends from high school drove up from Texas with her husband and two boys and while the hubbies were away, the girls and kiddos went to play. 4 Warn Storm Team for web

We spent the day catching up on each others lives over the past ten years all the while chasing four rambunctious boys around the Science Museum Oklahoma.Teeter totter for web If you live in Oklahoma and have not yet been to the Science Museum, pack up your things and go now! It was a blast and perfect for all ages.Beau for web

Also this summer, we ventured out to Jenks, Oklahoma (which is on the other side of the state) to visit the Oklahoma Aquarium. Beau loved getting to stick his hands in the water to pet Sting Rays and StarfishSting Rays for web …Jack, not so much. He was just thrilled about his new shark necklace.Shark tooth necklace for web

Ahhhhh, accessories…a boy after my own heart.

Anyway, since Jenks is a pretty good haul across the state, we decided to make the most out of our trip back home by stopping at a relatively new and unique filling station called Pops.Pops for web

It is located on old Route 66 and houses any and every type of soda you could ever imagine or want. Sodas for web

Being the cultured person that I am, I decided to try a local root beer.Round Barn rootbeer for web Unfortunately, it tasted like….well, let’s just say it wasn’t very good. So Josh bought me a different kind.Triple XXX Rootbeer

Gotta love that man’s sense of humor…or not.

Even  Beau, who you’d think would be too young to partake in such a thing,  enjoyed stopping at the new Oklahoma landmark.Aug 6 09 Aquarium 088ps5x7for web

Looks like you had such a great time! The aquarium is one of our favorites, we had Nic's first birthday there. I have always wanted to go to Pop's, it sounds like fun.

Are you talking about the science museum in OKC? Love that place! My boys haven't been though.
Yogi has been to that pop place as well. Looks like fun!

You're giving me some great ideas for our vacation next year. My husband's cousin is getting married in Oklahoma next June. We decided we'd make a vacation out of it. I know my kids would love the aquarium.

Great pictures, by the way. You found some really neat perspectives for the photos. I love your watermark too! :)

Great post!

That pop place looks like so much fun, you gotta tell me where it is. We use to live in Jenks as I was once running an insurance office in Tulsa. They were still building that auquarium when we left. Right there on the river and the turnpike. I miss those days and the cooler weather.

Hope your having a good week!

Love and Prayers,

Tim

Dawn, I was looking up that museum the other day. It looks like a blast. Maybe on our next "break" we can make it out there. I know the boys would absolutely love it!

I think we need to come to Oklahoma too : ) And stay at the Blogging it from the Burbs mansion : ).

That root beer your husband got you was SO funny! I am glad it tasted better than the Round Barn one. I think I would have gone for the round barn one just because of that cool label : )
