Sex in a pan

If the title alone doesn't get you to click over to read this post, I don't know what will. But per your request and because I promised, here is the man of the house's all-time favorite dessert: Sex In A Pan - or more appropriately (but not nearly as much fun) - Texan Dessert.

Although there are quite a few layers to this dessert, it is probably one of the easiest things to make...besides baking the already cut Pillsbury Cookie Dough : )

Ingredients:
  • 1 stick of butter (softened)
  • 1 cup of flour
  • a heaping 1/2 cup of pecans (can be substituted with another kind of nut if pecans are not your thing)
  • 8 oz. package of cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 box of instant vanilla pudding
  • 1 box of instant chocolate pudding
  • 3 cups of cold milk, divided
  • 8 plus ounces of cool whip
  • a Hershey chocolate bar (optional)

Layer One: The Crust

  • mix together the butter, the flour and the pecans and press into the bottom of a 9x13 pan, spreading evenly and making sure the entire surface is covered
  • bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees
  • let cool before continuing onto Layer Two

Layer Two: (the sex part if you ask me)

  • mix together the cream cheese, the powdered sugar, and the tsp. of vanilla
  • spread evenly over the crust

Layer Three:

  • make vanilla instant pudding according to directions on box EXCEPT only use 1 1/2 cups of milk rather than 2 (we want the pudding to be slightly thicker)
  • spread evenly over the cream cheese mixture

Layer Four:

  • make chocolate instant pudding according to directions on box EXCEPT only use 1 1/2 cups of milk rather than 2 (we want the pudding to be slightly thicker)
  • spread evenly over the vanilla pudding

Layer Five:

  • gently spread cool whip over the top of the chocolate pudding

That's it...unless you are a little OCD like me and think it all just looks a little too boring. If that's the case, take a Hershey bar and shave off little pieces of chocolate to top it off with (afterall, who couldn't use just a little more chocolate?).

Refrigerate to set-up and enjoy!!

So my family makes this dessert as well but doesn't make the vanilla pudding layer. We call it layer dessert but sex in a pan is way more fun. It is my all time favorite dessert too.

When I saw the title, I thought it was going to be similar to a recipe I have, called Better Than Sex Cake. This is a different one, though, and it looks delicious so I'm going to have to add it to the "sex" file in my recipe box! :)

Oooh, definitely gonna have to give that one a try!

And I agree, I'd do the chocolate shavings on the top too! ;)

Someone also told me you could sprinkle more pecans on the top...I think I'll stick with the chocolate though : )

My Mom made this all the time. I am pretty sure she never called it this. But Sex in a Pan sure has a nice ring to it : ). Maybe I will make this for the older couple. I am sure they would be delighted at my cleverness as I present our dessert: SEX in a pan. : ).
