Food for the soul

First of all, I want to thank all of you for your comments of well wishes. Knowing that I am not alone in letting my house fall apart on occasion is truly comforting : )

I am still writing to you from the confines of my bed, but I am feeling a little better. I have actually been able to get out of the bed today and do some much needed laundry - which means my family no longer has to run around in dirty socks and underwear - for this I am sure they are eternally grateful.

Even though I believe I am on the up-and-up to recovery, my throat is still very swollen, so much so that the simple act of swallowing is right next to impossible; but even in that I have found a silver lining: I have thus far kept one of my New Year's resolutions in that I have not gained anymore weight - three days of not eating tends to do that to a person. I'm just glad I was able to finish off my Praline cookies before this illness set in or I seriously would have been even worse off than I am now (lol).

So what does one do while they are sick and laid-up in bed? Sleep for sure. But I have also watched my favorite movie "Pride and Prejudice" (the one with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen) at least three times - one, because I am too lazy to get up and go pick out another movie; and two, it just does my soul good to see Mr. Darcy come walking through the morning fog towards Miss Elizabeth so that he can profess his undying love and devotion to her for yet a second time. I'm a sappy romantic like that. So sue me. : )

So what do you all do to occupy your time when you are sick? Is there a favorite movie you enjoy watching or a book you always turn to? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated seeing as how I am starting to go just a little stir-crazy (lol).

I love to lay on the couch cover up with a big blanket and watch movies, meanwhile the boys are running rampant through the house causing mass destruction. But hey, it will get cleaned up eventually, right?

I'm so sorry you are still feeling so bad!!! Hmmm what do I do when I'm sick. Well, I normally set the boys up with a movie and lots of yummy treats to keep them occupied (usually on my bed), and then I try to look like I'm paying attention but actually sleeping. My bed is the only place I want to be when I'm sick, so I just move life into my room lol.

I usually read. I'm a big reader. But, now that I have my iPhone I play games too! LOL!

Maybe you'll even lose weight before this is over. That's always a plus from being sick (in my book).

I do hope you feel better soon.

When I'm sick....I lay around in sweats and I read, sleep, and sit on the computer. Wait. Isn't that what I did today?! Just kidding. I folded laundry too.

I love to read, so if I am at home without kids at my feet I would be reading. I also love to watch movies Pride and Prejudice is a really good movie. I am wanting to see that new one out The Dutchess. I like historical movies. Actually I like all kinds of movies. Hope you start feeling better soon. :)

Okay, you made me want to go and rent Pride and Prejudice! I loved the book, but I have never watched the movie. If I were as sick as it sounds like you are I would definitely be laying in bed as well. I'm glad you're feeling better!

Usually if I am sick enough to be lying down, I'm asleep. Or hanging out over a toilet. If I'm able to get out of bed, the chorus of "MOMMY!!" usually gets me to doing some regular stuff.

Oh so sorry you are sick! That stinks! When I'm sick I like to watch Dazed & Confused...(a guilty pleasure, but such a hilarious movie, the awesome soundtrack is an added bonus!) Also, if you can sucker someone into getting books for you, I just finished the Jen Lancaster memoirs, bitter is the new black, bright lights, big ass and such a pretty fat. HI-LARIOUS!

OMG - I hope you are feeling better!!! I too am a Mr. Darcy fan. I also love the BBC production of Pride and Predjudice! When I'm sick and in bed, I either knit or stockpile all of my fave chick-flicks and watch them in rapid-fire succession. Nothing does the body good like romantic comedies! Well wishes!!

Again thanks everyone for your well wishes and wonderful suggestions. I love to read as well but not so much when I'm sick. My head just hurts too much to try and concentrate on tiny words. Kudos to those of you that can pull that off.

Michelle - I have been dying to see The Duchess as well. If you get to it before I do, please let me know if it was worth your while or not.

Knit Purl - I only wish I knew how to knit. Maybe you could give some tutorials for beginners on your blog : ) (hint hint)
