Flashback Friday

April’s assignment: Because April is when a lot of high schools hold their proms, I have dubbed April’s theme as “Black Tie Affair”. I would love to see photos of you and/or your family dressed up. It doesn’t necessarily have to be “Black Tie,” but rather it can be any occasion that calls for you to be dressed up a little more than usual: prom, formals, theater shows, balls, parties…you get the general idea. I can’t wait to see what you all come up with (I really am hoping and praying that some of you post photos of your high school formals – lol).
Believe it or not, I use to not be so cool (lol). My eyebrows were untouched, I permed my hair and my keen fashion since had not yet fully developed.the deck
Growing up I was not allowed to go to school dances. I remember secretly buying a ticket to a dance one time in middle school. I had planned on going to a girl-friend’s house to spend the night and then we were going to go to the dance together.the girls I came home from school that day proud of myself for having concocted such a stealthy master-plan. I walked through the door and my mom, without even saying hello, asked me if I had bought a ticket to the dance. I was so stunned that I was rendered speechless for a moment or two; therefore, making it impossible for me to actually lie and get away with it (as if I ever got away with any of my lies – my parents were always one step ahead of me).
Needless to say, I did not attend that dance or many of the others that followed. In fact, it wasn’t until the last dance of my 8th grade year that I finally got to go to one; and even then I think it was only because I was going to go with the boy that lived across the street. the chair pic
My parents loved him and he set up a kind of residence within our home. He would come over and play video games with my younger brother and he would walk me to and from school every day. He was every parents dream. Danny and I never dated but we were always good friends. He was almost like an adopted brother. I lost touch with him after high school but I will never forget him. He was definitely one of the good guys.the dance

Not cool? Whatever! You were still beautiful even in those awkward junior high days. Haha. And Danny! That's awesome. I totally had a little girl crush on him, and I was what like 5? That's hilarious. Your posts never fail to make me smile. LOVE YOU!

I love your pics!! Cracking up here. I think I have an old post I can link. Would hate to put my prom picture up on the blog twice. My date's wife might think I have issues if I keep reposting it. Haha.

You were such a little cutie! These are great.

I pulled out my prom pictures this week! I've been looking everywhere for my NKOTB concert photos too. I think they may be at my mom's. I'm going over there to look today. If I find them, I'll post them and come link up. I'm saving the prom photos for next week though!

All I have to say is, wow! Tweezers are our best friends! Isn't it funny how we dressed so much older when we were younger and now we're doing the opposite?

I love these pictures! So fun.

Can you believe I actually realized that today was not Friday right now? I've been planning on doing Flashback Friday this morning all week. I think I"ve lost my mind. I should probably just throw in the towel! I'm sorry. I will shoot for FRIDAY of next week.

I still wanted to enter, even though I'm a day late. I was happy to see that it is a weekely thing (I thought it was monthly!) I had a dress almost the same as yours only it was green. And I hated the picture- so you'll never see it! Have a great weekend!

I so enjoyed reading this post. Your neighbor must have been absolutely non-threatening for your parents to take to him like that. You were still cute back then!
