When it rains, it pours

And I don’t just mean the weather; although, it has done plenty of that around here lately as well.

For the last week, we, as a household, have been battling all sorts of illnesses: from allergies and ear infections, to strep and colds. Needless to say we have quarantined ourselves from the rest of the world and for that you should all be grateful; but, we all are now suffering from a severe case of cabin fever. I myself have reread (for the 3rd or 4th time) the entire Twilight series (only because I had no other new books around at the beginning of last week) and then when my new books did finally arrive via snail-mail, I ended up reading Christina Dodd’s entire Darkness Chosen series as well. Yeah, I’ve read a lot, slept a lot, and cleaned a lot of snotty noses in the past week…motherhood is so glamorous : )

This week is looking a little scary as well. Friday Beau is scheduled to have tubes put in his ears, tomorrow I have an appointment with the eye doctor because right now I am resembling the vampires in a lot of the books I read, and on top of that we have found out that one of my uncles has been in ICU and may be in need of some pretty serious surgery; thus a trip to Alabama may be in our very near future. So please keep us all in your prayers.

As for what else we’ve been up to…I can honestly say, not much. Last weekend was our American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life bake sale. Despite the pouring rain, we managed to raise a a few hundred dollars.

I ended up making some cake balls for the event and they sold out in the first couple of minutes.May 1-10 09 005 I wish I could take credit for these cute little things, but I got the idea from Bakerella a few weeks ago when she made them for her own Relay for Life fundraiser. Needless to say hers were A LOT better; but hey, I tried.May 1-10 09 002 Last night, we celebrated my niece’s fifth birthday with a Wizard of Oz themed party.May 1-10 09 006  The kids were so thrilled to get out of the house.May 1-10 09 026  Beau even did a little cheer.May 1-10 09 018 So, now that I am at least up-and-at-‘em a little bit more, I hope to visit your blogs this week and catch up. Have a great Monday everyone.

I'm sorry you all have been so sick. I hope the weather warms up and the sun shines SOON! We all need to get out and get some fresh vitamin D!!

Did you like that new series you read? I'm getting ready to start Charlaine Harris' vampire series.

I hope everone is on the road to recovery. The treats look so good & so cute! We sold treats ourselves, but we cheated & bought them, maybe next year we can do them ourselves...
Prayers for your uncle & a quick recovery for him as well.

You poor thing! I hope that you're feeling much, much better now. It's so hard when the mom is sick right along with the kiddos. :(
