I gotta know…

I am in desperate need of  your opinion. I have been working on calibrating my computer. I ended up buying some software to do so. And now that I have it all done, I swear the whites on my computer look muddier than they did before.

So here is what I am going to do. I am going to post two photos and without telling you which is the “before calibration” and which one is the “after calibration,” I would love it if you could tell me which one looks better to you.

Thanks in advance for your time and opinions!!

I like the second one better. The first one is just slightly too bright in my opinion.

I like #2 too, it's more natural but #1 has a nice flare effect. I'm sorry that's not helpful and now I am really curious which one is before/after.

And I'm about to mix it all up for ya, haha!

I like the first one... but I am just drawn to bright photos. I like the crisp look of the colors in the first photo better.

The second photo has more depth to some of the colors... but doesn't grab me like the first.

OK, I'm an idiot-I can't even tell a difference between the two. I am blaming it on my monitor.

First off...TOOOOO adorable photo!! Love it!

I like the bright in the 1st one, but also thats a personal taste. The 2nd one on MY screen looks more yellow in the faces BUT yet more natural.

I guess its all a matter of taste.

No help eh?!

I like the 2nd one, too. More warm.

The second one's skin tones seem more natural, although I like both.

The problem is that most people do not have calibrated monitors. I have put my computer next to Angie's and our monitors are SO different. My pictures look AWFUL on my in-laws computer and they actually have an expensive monitor that appears to be calibrated according to online tests.

I think the main point is how it prints. I calibrated mine with online tests (not as good as an actual one you can buy). Angie's does not show as calibrated with the online tests, but she like how it looks better on her screen without the calibration. Mine does not always print out the same with my at-home printer. I haven't ever had mine professionally printed, but Angie always pays a little extra to have it color corrected through her print place.

Try getting it printed without color correction, and see if it looks like what you see on screen. Truly, I think most of us see completely different pictures with all the different monitor settings going on out there. :)

You'll have to let me know which calibrator you chose. I'm definitely interested in buying one.

I like the bottom one better. And I am not reading everyone elses opinions : ) Now I am going to go back and see if I am normal : )

OK it looks like I am in the majority! PHEW! You know, I just fear being different! : ) I think a good point was made about all of our screens being different. It is so hard to know. That is why I do what I do, NOTHING : ) I edit to my tastes, hope for the best, and slap it on there! : )

Did I tell you that when I saw your contemplation picture below it just made me gasp. It is so beautiful! Every time I see that image I am gripped. And I totally think that is the sign of a great photographer. And that is why I admire you. And want to be like you someday : )
