The road to a better me – end of week 1

Ahhhhh, the end of week one on the journey to bettering myself. I wish I could say I have seen vast improvements in my weight  and in my energy…but no such luck. It was a short week though, so I am not discouraged… yet.

Overall, I was pretty proud of myself this week. I’ve been getting up earlier, working out, watching the amount of sweets I intake (despite how good that banana pudding looked). But I have to be honest…I caved on the no-Pepsi thing.

I started getting a terrible headache on Monday evening (from withdrawals I’m sure) so I fixed a small glass; and because I didn’t want to onset anymore headaches, I had a small glass on Tuesday, and an even smaller glass yesterday. Today, I have not had any and I don’t foresee having any either since my two liter is now gone.

I know I shouldn’t have drank it but in comparison to usually downing an entire 2 liter in one day, I’d say I’m doing pretty well.

Amazingly enough I actually lost one whole pound since Monday and dropped a quarter of an inch off of my thighs. I realize it’s not much; but again, with my only starting this thing on Monday, I’d say that’s pretty encouraging.

So how are those of you that are joining me doing? Did you have any amazing moments this week or did you cave like me? : )

I'm impressed that you would diet and exercise publically so we can all keep up!

Great Job Melinda! Keep up the good work! Last time I gave up soda, I was convinced I was dying from some horrible undiagnosible disease for a few days until I 'detoxed'. LOL, I'm proud of you!!

That is so wonderful! It is awesome that you are already seeing the results! It took five weeks of working out before weight starting falling off me. CONGRATS!

I look forward to hearing more next week.

Keep it up. If you want this progress to stick it's a lifestyle change - not just a numbers change.

I say that as if I've tried.

BUT I know it's true. :)
Don't beat yourself up on the Pepsi thing.
Are you keeping a food journal?

All I did was make it to my 2 gym classes this week - pilates reformer.
I don't skip because I prepaid.

I just think it is SO great! A pound is a lot. And a pound plus one ounce...that is even GREATER : ). I will go to the gym next week because you inspire me.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I can't tell you how much it helps. Joni - I have not yet started to keep a food journal but was seriously considering it. Have you ever done that? Does it help?

I really need to try harder and working out. I have been so tired lately and I am sure exercise would help. Warm weather, where are you, lol!
